The Hot Summer Nights series was a blast. Jump some hay bales and fallen logs, and tear through sprinklers. Woo! It was a great series, special thanks to Dave Londe for organizing it all. We'll see you out there for the series next year
with new challenges, new courses but the same Have Fun and Rock your Socks attitude!
Upcoming events
Here in town, we've got the School Foundation 5k on October 9th and the Turkey Trot & Gobble Wobble on November 6th. Two great 5k's!
And just over the hill, there is the Always a Cowboy 8k Run and 5k Walk in Laramie on September 25th which honors the 8 cross country team members who were killed by a drunk driver in 2001.
The 8 also have the Silent Trails Run in Tie City (Happy Jack) on Oct. 9th. Come celebrate the lives of the eight and their commitment to running. Find registration forms for both races on footoftherockies.us/upcomingevents.html.
Benvenuti to all the new athletes we have in the area! High school Fall team sports have already begun!
Training Tips
Want to run faster? Whatever the distance you may be doing, interval work help you get the job done. Running the same distance at the same speed all day every day will keep you
racing at that speed all day every day. Throw in some shorter intervals or some tempo runs and boost your heart rate to 170 to turbo your 5k.

July 2010
July heated up the summer, finally, and we got in some good running while we watched Uruguay have a great World Cup Performance "Soy Celeste!". The Buffalo Stampede took place on base, Dave Londe and Pattie Bauman getting a W in the 5k. Sean Wilde and Emily Bates bringing in the pack for the 10k. Missed the race? Go to footoftherockies.us/raceresults.html for full results or check out our race album of over 200 photos on Facebook!
The Kevin Salverson High Altitude Memorial Camp in Sheridan and up on top was a big hit. Everyone had a great time team building, running, playing frisbee, checkin out the falls, kayaking, caving, and the grand final Sneakers and Spurs 5k! Through the miles of trials, and trials of miles, not a soul got a hurt! Congratulations guys! Great Work! Didn't make it to camp this year? There is always next year. Camp is open to any and all high school athletes. Counselors and Pseudo-counselors will have an updated and all new application process. Information will be up on the site before the turn of the year.
Upcoming events
Let's make those summer miles count, and put in some good racing in August. 1st on the list is Hot Summer Nights 2nd race at the Lummis Ranch. Come out for this Thursday night series and race your way into the weekend! Check out footoftherockies.us/upcomingevents.html. Then comes the Longhorn Stampede in Pine Bluffs on the 7th, and the Komen Race for the Cure on the 14th. Come out and support great causes. Maybe you'll find yourself in the after race photos!
Equipment Update!
We are now completely stocked on Komen Race for the Cure apparel and accessories! A percentage of all sales goes to support the Komen Foundation to battle Breast Cancer and raise awareness.
Training Tip
Hurt and sore? Are the miles pounding you rather than the other way around? Alternate your hard run days with days in the pool. Aquajogging will help put the body back together and keep you feeling great during workouts. Try alternating one minute easy, 30 seconds hard and you'll see you can get your cardio workout in the pool too! Your body will absolutely love you for it.
See you guys next month. Life is all about the 3 R's, Run, Race, and Relax...(Work does not begin with an R!)

June, 2010
Events
Summer in Cheyenne kicked off with some great events and great support from the community here in Cheyenne and the surrounding area.
The clothing drive in February with the Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless went very well (truck after truck of donations went to the Welcome Mat) the WCH held
the annual "Walk in my Shoes" Fundraiser 5k. Foot donated a percentage of sales over a 5 day period and was placed into the silver sponsors category.
Then came Super Day!The annual 5k/10k kicked off in the wee morning. As in previous years, the race grew once again, and we totaled about 215 participants. Overall Winners were Sean Wylde and Jamie Schiel. Results are on our Race Results page, and pictures, taken by Kadie Floud, are on
our Facebook. Give them a look-see by befriending us, Footofthe Rockies. Facebook is also a great way to stay connected and stay informed on upcoming races, events, sales, and new products.
With the Fun of Super Day already having become a memory, we are gearing up for several events in July.
1st one up is the first race on July 8th of the Hot Summer Nights Racing Series. Dave Londe is in charge of the series this year, and it is always a blast. Check out Upcoming Events
2nd one is the Kevin Salverson Memorial High Altitude Running Camp, July 10th-16th. The camp is open to all high-school athletes looking to run, team-build, meet athletes from all over the state, doing what Kevin loved to do. Check out Upcoming Events for the sign up form and some clips from Camp 2009!
Summer Trivia
We started up the old Summer Sports Trivia. We have a new winner of a $15 gift certificate every week. All questions pertain to Wyoming sports. Give it a shot now, and click here!
Products and Training Tip
Barefoot running is becoming more popular, and we believe barefooting can be an important part of a training program. Add some barefoot windsprints in the park or play some frisbee to help strengthen tendons and ligaments. We will be carrying the Vibram 5 fingers as soon as they become available in February, 2011 to help those who want to hit the trails barefooting.
Thanks for joining us, Enjoy July's Running!
